SDI-B is a flagship initiative of Oil & Gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), managed by IndianOil. It is a not-for-profit institution dedicated to providing industry-oriented skill development programmes that enhance the employability of youth.
SDI Bhubaneswar offers:
Eligibility varies depending on the programme. Courses are available for ITI pass-outs, Diploma holders, Engineering graduates, simple graduates, and other eligible candidates as specified for each course.

Yes. All eligible applicants are required to appear for an online admission test. The test can be taken using a web browser or through the SDI-B Admissions Android App.
Yes. The online admission test can be taken remotely using a desktop, laptop, or Android mobile phone with an internet connection.
After successfully submitting your application, you will receive the admission test details via SMS, email, or a phone call from the institute.
Shortlisting is based on the candidate's performance in the online admission test and personal counselling, along with fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.
Yes. Candidates who qualify in the admission test may be required to attend counselling before the admission is confirmed.
Shortlisted candidates will receive admission updates, counselling information, and fee payment instructions via SMS, email, or a phone call from the institute.
Once shortlisted, candidates can log in to the Admission Portal and pay the admission fee online using the Pay Now option.

A student can enrol in only one course at a time at SDI-B. However, the student can enrol for an internship program later.

Yes. SDI-B welcomes eligible candidates from all states across India.
Yes. SDI-B regularly conducts Government-sponsored skill development programmes in collaboration with various State Governments and sponsoring corporates / industry.
Yes. Government-sponsored programmes are offered subject to the availability of approved projects. However, SDI-B conducts Regular Fee-Based Programmes throughout the year, allowing candidates to begin their training without waiting for a sponsored batch and benefit from industry-oriented training, modern infrastructure, and placement assistance.
Yes. Candidates enrolled in Government-sponsored programmes are exempt from paying the course fee, as per the guidelines and funding norms of the respective sponsoring Government department or scheme.
The course fee varies depending on the programme. Candidates are advised to visit the respective course page on the website for the latest fee structure, as fees may differ from one course to another and are subject to revision.
Yes. SDI-B is a fully residential campus with separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, along with facilities like admin block, academic blocks, workshops, recreation facilities (includes Gym), sports complex, guest house, faculty residences, an auditorium etc.

Yes. Hostel students have access to spacious dining halls where hygienic meals are served.
Yes. Regular trainees at SDI-B are provided free hostel accommodation and meals throughout the training period, subject to the institute's policies.
Yes. The campus has round-the-clock security, monitored hostel premises, and a safe residential environment for students.
Yes. SDI-B provides basic first-aid and medical assistance on campus for students. In addition, a qualified doctor visits the campus twice a week to provide routine medical consultation and healthcare support. In case of a medical emergency, the institute facilitates prompt treatment by coordinating with nearby hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Yes. SDI-B has a well-equipped library with both physical and digital learning resources to support academic learning and self-study.
Yes. The campus includes sports complex with synthetic track, indoor games, recreation halls, and an open-air theatre to promote the overall development of students.
Yes. SDI-B is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. The institute has an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to address issues related to ragging, harassment, and gender-related grievances in accordance with the applicable Government guidelines. Students can report concerns confidentially, and all complaints are dealt with promptly and fairly.

Yes, uniforms provided to all enrolled candidates. Depending on the course, trainees are provided with the required safety shoes to ensure safe and effective practical training.
Yes. Upon successful completion of the course and fulfilment of the prescribed assessment and attendance requirements, students are awarded an SDI-B Course Completion Certificate. For courses aligned with the relevant Sector Skill Council (SSC), students are also awarded the SSC Certificate, subject to successfully qualifying the respective assessment.
Yes. SDI-B places strong emphasis on hands-on practical training using modern laboratories, workshops, simulations, and industry-standard equipment.
Yes. Along with technical training, SDI-B offers Soft Skills and Employability Skills programmes covering communication, personality development, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, teamwork, leadership, and professional ethics.
Yes. Students receive guidance on resume writing, mock interviews, group discussions, and interview techniques to enhance their employability.
Yes. Students are provided opportunities to participate in industrial visits, guest lectures, industrial seminars, and interactions with industry professionals wherever applicable.
Yes. Students can participate in sports, cultural programmes, technical/skill competitions, awareness campaigns, celebrations of national events, and other co-curricular activities.
Yes. SDI-B offers structured internship programmes aligned with NEP 2020 that provide practical exposure under expert supervision across multiple engineering and technology domains.
Generally, B.Tech, Diploma, and MCA students or graduates are eligible, subject to the eligibility criteria of the respective internship programme.
Internship programmes are generally conducted for 30 or 45 days, depending on the selected domain and as per request received from colleges.
